Katie's Dedication
Today at church, we had Katie dedicated. Ben shared about the purpose of dedicating a baby, and two of the children, Juan David and Sara, prayed for her. Afterwards, Dan shared this verse from Psalm 127: "Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them . . ." It was a special morning for all of us.

Goodbye Grandma Shore
Well, all good things come to an end! Grandma Shore came to visit me for three weeks. Well maybe she also came to help mommy recover for her C-section too, but regardless, she needed to go back to Japan to be with Grandpa Shore. But while she was here, I grew and changed a whole bunch. She got to see my brand new belly button, my smiles when someone sings to me, my thumb sucking (yup, I found it!), and my becoming a US citizen. Yes, you heard that right . . . in another day or so, I will have my very own Social Security number and passport. I didn't really like the getting the passport picture part of things . . . mom and dad kept trying to wake me up with a cold wash cloth, tickling my toes, etc. but I guess we finally got the picture. And while Grandma was here, I grew a whole bunch. I am almost 10 1/2 pounds, and I grew an inch and a half. Pretty good for my first month! Well, I am going to take a little rest, but I'll write more soon!

Grandma Shore Comes for a Visit
It has been a week full of learning and adventures for Katie, Daddy, and Mommy. From our late night encounters of both a milk and explosive poopy kind to our first visit to the pediatrician to Grandma Shore's arrival to morning snuggles, we have been enjoying a whole new rhythm in our lives. Katie continues to grow and flourish. She was born weighing 8 lbs 6 0z and has managed to add a few ounces this week. Yup, she's a good eater! She entertains us constantly with her funny expressions, animated arms (perhaps she will be a future conductor!), and the little squeals and sounds she makes. Yes, we are head over heels for our little girl!
